Ever since playing Joust on his family's Atari 800XL 8-bit computer as a youth, Zak has been hooked on PC and console games. His passion for gaming as a kid led to an interest in PCs as a teenager, which ended up with him founding his own PC repair shop in the year 2000. Decades later, he's still building, still gaming, and still arguing on the internet with any opinion anyone has. A former writer of news and reviews for The Tech Report, Zak is a modern-day Renaissance man who may not be an expert on anything, but knows just a little about nearly everything.

If Intel's statements at CES 2022 are anything to go by, we're probably going to see its Arc Alchemist discrete GPUs appearing in laptops before we'll see them in desktop form. That date could be as soon as next week, in fact, but it also... Read more...
When AMD announced the Ryzen 7 5800X3D at CES 2022, a lot of people were surprised that the company appears to only be launching a single Ryzen SKU with its staked 3D V-Cache technology. That's partially because the company had already... Read more...
The just-released Radeon RX 6500 XT is a weird product in a lot of ways. Besides its lean 64-bit memory bus, its hilariously-narrow PCIe x4 interface, and the resulting mediocre performance, it also suffers from limited video encoding and... Read more...
A lot of people were disappointed when CES 2022 came and went with nary a sign of discrete graphics adapters bearing Intel GPUs. Intel broadly promised Arc GPUs in Q1 of this year, but the thrust of the presentation was entirely focused on... Read more...
I'll tell you the truth, loyal HotHardware reader: I passed on the original God of War when it was new back in 2005. One of my friends picked up the game in its original PlayStation 2 form a few days after it released, while I purchased Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, which had just come... Read more...
The performance of the just-released Radeon RX 6500 XT may not quite be what people were hoping for from a brand-new graphics card in 2022. Technically speaking, solid 1080p gaming performance in under 100 watts really isn't all that bad... Read more...
